Our school was established in 1885 in Houson which is a small town in the north of Jordan not far away from Irbid, the second largest city after the capital Amman.
At the beginning, the school was very small; it was situated in the priest's house with only few pupils. It was the only school in Houson then.
By 1911, there were 130 pupils with very few teachers whose salaries were not more than one gold JD each. There were also three Rosary sisters who were responsible for teaching as well as instilling good morals in students.
During the period of the Emirate of Jordan, from 1920 to 1940, the number of the staff increased gradually; there were five Rosary sisters and ten teachers from different countries in addition to 283 students.
The school continued in the priest's house until 1945. It then moved to a new building in front of the church as an elementary school with six classes, boys and girls being taught together.
As the school evolved and demand for places increased, that building became too small to accommodate the numbers, therefore, two houses nearby were rented to be used as classrooms until 1950.
After the proclamation of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the school grew and expanded; there were still five Rosary sisters but the number of teachers rose to 18 with 450 students. The teachers who came from far away especially from Palestine and Lebanon stayed with families in Houson.
In 1977, a two-storey building was added to the school. This building included a big hall for the school meetings and celebrations, and six classrooms in addition to two toilet units.
Finally, a third building was built in 1999 funded mainly by the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher.
Some of the school graduates, who continued their higher education in different countries in the world, became important people in the society; a number of them held senior positions in the government; others became famous doctors, engineers, lawyers and so on.
Today, 41 teachers are employed in our school to teach about 743 students from the 1st grade to the 12th grade occupying 24 classes. The school has 2 science and 2 computer laboratories.
Our school now has a good reputation for the quality of education it offers in addition to the activities performed indoors and outdoors under the supervision of qualified staff.
